Hola! Last Friday we decided to run from all the noises and stress of living in a tiny Finnish city and head to our cabin in Ähtäri (there's a lovely zoo there too). We both had our small backbags with us and all our belongings fit in them just perfectly. Rain was pit-pattering as we were waiting for our train, which was late (damn you VR). When it finally arrived, there were surprisingly a few other people besides us who wanted to get on the same train. This meant that once the doors opened, everyone crowded the entrance and we were lucky to get seats! Although our backs faced the wrong direction... that was totally my fault because I had no idea which way the train would start moving.
Luckily the sun started shining as we got closer to Etelä-Pohjanmaa. We killed time watching Mulan 2 and the Jungle Book from Viaplay (but it was burdensome because of the horrible internet connection). We just love old Disney movies! We switched trains in Haapamäki and soon we were already in Ähtäri, where our grandmother was waiting for us. She took us to the store and the to our destination: THE CABIN!
Our cabin is owned by my mother's brothers, Janina's dad and our uncle. There's electricity, but no running water. No, there's no toilet inside the cabin, only a shack outside in the woods where you don't have the guts to go alone in the dark. No, there's no wifi. There's nothing there. You have to live like people did in the medieval times. And first and furthermost, you have to make a fire because it's bloody cold in there.
And here the master of heating up the sauna is boasting in all the very much deserved glory!
Our white wine sangria recipe! For one glass, use 50/50 some sparkling white wine and grapefruit lemonade (we used Hartwall Jaffa), pour liquid over slices of lemon and lime and add a few mint leaves.
On Sunday morning when I went for a swim, the whole surface of the lake was beautifully coated with fog! Everything was gray and it felt, for the first time, that Autumn had finally arrived. (The water was bloody cold!!!)
